About National Youth Symposium (NYS):

The National Youth Symposium is a project of YTS. This symposium will bring together young leaders from around the country to devise solutions for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Afghanistan. These young leaders will be selected from a variety of disciplines including tech, advocacy, research and policy. This event will celebrate the interdisciplinary and interconnected themes of the SDGs by examining all goals and the relevance they have to young people in Afghanistan. Through a series of interactive workshops where all participants can trade knowledge and co-generate ideas, we can begin planning and operationalizing these solutions.

This two-day Symposium will bring together young leaders from all over the country to devise solutions for the realization of the SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) in Afghanistan. These young leaders will be selected from a variety of disciplines but not limited to economy, tech, advocacy, research and policy, government, education, and many more.

● Benefits
The Symposium is conceived as an event that will provide young people with a unique opportunity to meet, debate and share their vision and commitment to sustainable development goals. It aims to become a platform for discussing action plans to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The Forum is fully aligned with Government’s Strategy for Youth.

● Participants
The Symposium is addressed to youth of age 16 to 35, who are working on six chosen SDGs, or conducted research works on SDGs. The participants will be selected by the Technical Team of the symposium and shall be invited to Kabul for participating at the main event.

● Local Action
Based on the local context, and areas of interest and expertise, participants will undertake activities to promote an inclusive dialogue and extensive collaboration around the SDGs, preparing case studies and strategic research papers aimed at kicking into motion local policy discussions.

Eligibility:
Individuals of 16 to 35 years of age, currently residing in any province of Afghanistan are invited to apply.

Travel & Accommodation:
Selected participants from all the provinces of Afghanistan (except Kabul) will be given scholarships to attend the symposium in Kabul, which shall cover their travel, accommodation and meal expenses.
