Opportunity Description
Outstanding international students who are interested to pursue their education in China, are welcomed to apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarships. This scholarship was established in 2006 to enhance the development of international student education in Shanghai.
The scholarship is offered for all degrees. Undergraduate program applicants who do not know the Chinese language can apply to attend a one-year Chinese language program.

Benefits
There are three types of scholarships offered by the Shanghai Government.
Type A

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants who want to apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarship should adhere to the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of a country other than China
- Be healthy
- Not have availed the Chinese Government Scholarship or any other scholarship offered by organizations are ineligible to apply
- Be proficient in the language of instruction (English or Chinese)
- Pre-college program (Chinese language studies):
- Be under the age of 23
- Have a high school diploma
- Undergraduate program:
- Be under the age of 25
- Obtained a high school diploma
- Master’s degree program:
- Be under the age of 35
- Obtained a bachelor’s degree
- PhD program:
- Be under the age of 40
- Obtained a master degree

Valid HSK certificate: students not having valid HSK can apply to one-year Chinese language studies. Master degree applicants should have 210 HSK level 5 and PhD applicants should have 180 of HSK level 5 for Chinese taught program or TOEFL 80 or above, IELTS 6 or above or another English language certificate for English taught program
