Opportunity Description

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, in partnership with the Hungarian Government, offers a limited number of scholarships for outstanding students from eligible countries to pursue their master’s degree in two well-known Hungarian universities in the academic year 2021-2022.   This scholarship will cover tuition fees, accommodations, health insurance, and subsistence expenses of the successful applicants. Applicants from Afghanistan as the eligible country also can apply to this scholarship.

Note: The traveling cost must be borne by the applicants. The scholarships will be offered on the condition that the minimum number of students is reached.

General eligibility criteria:

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have already completed their BSc/MSc or an equivalent degree.
  • Be a citizen of the eligible countries.
  • Demonstrate high academic performance and achievements.
  • Be proficient in the English language (non-English speaking applicants should have English proficiency).
  • Enjoy high motivations.
  • Be in a good state of health.
  • Age: under 30 is preferable.

Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo1, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, State of Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Level of study:

Master is Agricultural Wantern Management Engineering

Duration: two years, four semesters, and will cover 120 credits.

Eligibilities:

  • Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree in related areas.
  • Must have excellent English language skills (Writing and Speaking), TOEFL, IELTS/other.

Master in Plan Protection:

Duration: two years, four semesters, and will cover 120 credits.

Eligibilities:

  • Must be proficient in English (language proficiency- TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent).

Master in Crop Protection Engineering:

Duration: two years, four semesters, will cover 120 credits.

Eligibilities:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of science or other related area .
  • If applicants did not have completed their BSc, they might ask to take additional courses.
  • Must have at least an average of 65% or higher.
  • Must be proficient in the English language (TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent)

Note: Those applicants who completed their previous degree in English, they are not required to submit English test result.

Required documents:

  • Scholarship application form. 
  • Update curriculum vitae.
  • Copy of school or college diploma and transcript/report of the study.
  • English language proficiency documents.
  • First or information page of the passport.
  • Recommendation letter.
  • Motivation letter.
  • Medical certificate issued by a medical doctor.
  • Excellent conduct diploma or certificate must be issued by a local police authority.

Note: all of the mentioned documents must be in English or in case they are not; they should have a certified translation.

Selection process:

The selection process will be evaluated in two phases:

  • Firstly, the applicant’s documents will be evaluated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and will submit to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary and will send them to the university as applicants have chosen.
  • Secondly, applicants will be invited for an English written or oral test. Successful applicants will be selected by the universities and will be informed by the relevantnt Ministry.
