Japan ministry of education, culture, sport, science and technology (MEXT) has offered 20 scholarships for Afghan students who are interested to study their postgraduate studies (Master and Ph.D.) in Japan.

Oral and written test: mid-June

Result announcement: after January 2022

Postgraduate studies

Conditions for Postgraduate studies

  • Be an Afghan citizen
  • High academic achievement in high school period
  • Be physically fit
  • Be purposeful and committed to study and leading to a better relationship between Japan and Afghanistan
  • Be under the age of 35 years (born after April 2, 1987)
  • Have obtained a bachelor degree, master or equivalent
  • Be able to write and speak in the English language (for Courses taught in English) and /or in Japanese (for courses taught in Japanese)
  • Have sufficient writing speaking knowledge of Japanese
  • The acceptance of the students are based on the examination held by the Japan embassy in Kabul. The selected applicants by Japan embassy will be introduced to MEXT and best candidates among all applicants introduced by Japan ministries around the world will be selected.

How To Apply

Applicants can refer to the ministry of higher education to complete their documents before May 18, 2021 (28/2/1400)  for Postgraduate applicants at cabin number 21, reception office of foreign relations, and postgraduate scholarships directorate of the ministry of higher education.
