The government of Canada established The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships in 2008 to empower Canada’s ability to accept doctoral students from all over the globe and make Canada the global center of excellence in research and higher learning. Applicants who are willing to study their graduate studies in social science and humanities, natural science and/or engineering and health in Canada can apply.

Eligibilities:
- Applicants must meet the whole requirements, otherwise, will not be considered, the followings are the eligibilities:
- Applicants must apply to one institute of Canada which is received a Vanier CGS quota
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree with a joint undergraduate/graduate research program like MD/Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., JD/Ph.D.
- Applicant must have planned to perform a full-time doctoral or joint graduate program in the summer of the following year.
- Applicants must not have completed more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of 1 May 2021.
- Applicants are required to receive the first-class average which will be specified by the applicant’s institution, for the deification of first-class applicants are advised to contact the institute.
- Applicants must not receive any scholarship from the CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC.
